Standings – Volunteer Hours

Volunteer Hours should be submitted via email by the show organizer.

A minimum of four (4) hours is required from all members age nine (9) and older (as of the beginning of the competition year) for a member to be eligible for SEDA Year End Awards. It is the responsibility of each member to ensure that their hours are correct. Hours will be posted on the SEDA website. All volunteer hours and payment for volunteer hours must be submitted no later than November 30 of the current year.  Full details on the Volunteer Hours may be found in the Volunteer Incentive Program document.

If you are working hours for someone else, that must be declared to the show organizer at the time the hours are worked: no swapping of hours after the fact is allowed.

How to Earn Volunteer Hours

To qualify for Year End Awards, SEDA members over the age of 9 must earn at least four volunteer hours. There are many ways to do this! Consult the Awards Program Guidelines and the Volunteer Incentive Program for full details, but here are the basics:

• Volunteer at a SEDA-recognized show or SEDA-organized clinic.
• Become a Board Member.
• Become a Chairperson (such as Recognized Dressage Scores, Eventing Scores, Schooling Dressage Scores, Volunteer Coordinator, Awards Chair, Scholarship Committee).
• Recruit new members to SEDA! For every new member who joins because of your referral, earn 1 volunteer hour.
• Earn 4 volunteer hours for soliciting sponsorships for any SEDA-sponsored show or event, totaling a minimum of $300.
• Earn 2 volunteer hours for each article submitted and which is published on the SEDA website.
• Earn volunteer hours for designing and conducting an educational seminar.
• Out of the area? SEDA will allow up to four (4) volunteer hours to be worked at USEA-recognized, USDF-recognized, or USEF-recognized shows which are outside of the typical geographic region of SEDA-recognized shows to be counted towards hours worked for Year End Awards.
• Have someone volunteer at a show and give you their hours: note that this must be declared at the time the hours are worked.
• If you absolutely are not able to volunteer, you also have the option of paying a fee in lieu of your volunteer hours.
